02 What we install
Solar, storage and EV charging are electrical installations first. Coutts Electrical design and install them with their own qualified electricians rather than a commission-led sales team — and hold the MCS, NICEIC and Competent Person registrations the paperwork needs.

Systems sized on your actual usage profile, time of use and roof space — designed by electricians who understand load balancing, protection and future expansion. Spreading the cost? The Warm Homes Loan Scheme needs an MCS installer's quote, which we provide.

Supplied and installed battery for my existing solar panels. Excellent communication throughout. Work completed effectively and all mess cleared up. App installed on my phone and ongoing support available if needed. Would recommend this firm.
I had a bank holiday DIY emergency and needed someone to come out and make it safe and get our power back on. Coutts answered and Max was round within a couple of hours. Really easy communication, no hassle and easy to deal with, will definitely be using them for future jobs.
Max and his team installed my original solar panels a few years ago and have been back more recently to install the electrics for a heat pump and increase the number of panels. I'd recommend them in a heartbeat for any job you might have
Very efficient service from Max and Alex. They made completing an Electrical Condition Report and then repairs where required in or office seamless and not intrusive at all. Really great for peace of mind. Thank you
I wanted a rather specialised solar system for which I'd tried to get other companies to quote for in the past. Max and his team came to do a site survey and after a few emails back and forth to iron out the details, they delivered me exactly what I wanted. Everything happened exactly when they said it would and the system was commissioned on-time and on-budget. The site was left spotless. I have nothing but praise for Coutts Electrical Contractors.
Quite simply the best customer service I've experienced ever.Max and his team fitted our solar panels just over a year ago, and they were great throughout the process. But what really stood them apart was when we recently had an issue with a small leak around one of the panels. I emailed Max on a Sunday night, and by 0830 Monday morning scaffolding was up, the panels removed, the issue isolated and fixed, and the internal damage repaired. How a company responds when an issue arises tells you a lot, and they were absolutely first rate. Thank you Max and team 🙏🙌☀️
Installation of 10 solar panels, a MyEnergi battery and car charger. Max and the team were well organised, excellent communicators and methodical with their work.. the work was completed on time and everything was tidy when they left. No great demand for cups of tea, but nevertheless grateful when they received them :).
Fantastic experience end to end. Max from Coutts designed, engineered and installed a Solar PV system with Battery for me at the house. Everything was done on time as planned, system performs really well, right size for the property, great documentation, real-time data, all very tidy and professional. I don't often write reviews, but I'd definitely recommend Coutts if you want a quality solar install.
Coutts Electrical Contractors Ltd installed 11 Nr. rooftop solar panels for us and we were very pleased with the service we received. The installation was completed within the estimated time and a full set of handover documents was provided. Ahead of the installation we had several queries and they were always answered promptly and thoroughly. The arrangement of the solar panels is producing good results for us.
I had solar panels, an inverter, a storage battery and a Zappi EV charger installed. Max, Alex and Steve did a cracking job and were very efficient with their time. They started nice and early and explained their plan to me and answered all my questions. The quality of work was superb, everything measured and lined up perfectly. They finished in exactly the time they planned and tidied up everything and took all the packaging with them! I would thoroughly recommend Coutts Electrical to carry out your work, they are a great team and work together well. I will be using their services again when I increase my battery storage. Thanks for a brilliant job :-)
Great service and price, Max follows up with paperwork and emails. So pleasant to find a proactive supplier
Very happy with electrical work undertaken by Max of Coutts Electrical, and his team. They installed an electric radiator and new light in the kitchen. They offered advice and were professional and tidy. Would highly recommend.
Max and his team did a great job fitting anti-bird blockers around my solar panels, and removing the pigeon dirt and grime from the roof and gutters - not the pleasantest of jobs! Very efficient and prompt.
06 Why it lasts
Installing solar is not about selling hardware. It is about designing something that sits safely inside the electrical infrastructure you already have — and that still makes sense in ten years when you add a charger, a heat pump, or more panels.
07 How it runs
The same sequence on every install, domestic or commercial — so you always know who is on site, what happens next, and what you are holding at the end of it.
We come out, get on the roof, look at the board and take your usage — before anyone quotes you a number.
A system laid out around your property and your usage, with a written quotation — including how VAT applies to you.
Scaffold up, panels and battery in, cabling run and terminated neatly. Everything cleared away when we are done.
DNO notified, MCS registered and certificated, app set up on your phone, and the whole thing explained before we leave.
08 The trade underneath
Coutts Electrical were electricians long before they were a renewables company, and still are — domestic, commercial and industrial, 24 hours a day. It is the reason the solar work is safe.
09 Why Coutts Electrical
Not a values statement. Six things that are checkable — on this site, or on a certificate.
In Coutts Electrical's own words, their solar systems are “designed and installed by qualified electricians, not commission-led sales teams”. They hold MCS for the system, NICEIC for the installation and Competent Person registration for the certificate — so the survey, the design and the paperwork sit with people who are registered to do them.
How that worksFour complete systems with their guide costs printed, VAT position and all.

Our guide pricing starts from £9,500 for a 4kWp system with 10kWh of battery capacity, rising to £12,500 for 8kWp with 10kWh. Those figures are inclusive of VAT, currently at 0%, and include DNO G98/G99, a 6 year financial protection policy, scaffolding and MCS registration and certificate. They are guide costs for information — the pricing depends on your requirements, compatible brands, capacity and additional components, so every quote is priced to your own usage profile, time of use and available roof space.
Determining the appropriate size for your solar panel system involves considering factors like your energy consumption, roof space, and local sunlight conditions. Begin by assessing your average daily energy usage, which can be found on your electricity bill. Next, factor in your location’s solar irradiance. Areas with more sunlight may require fewer panels. Roof space is crucial; ensure it can accommodate the chosen system size. Consult with a solar panel professional for a personalised assessment. They’ll be the right person to understand your specific energy needs, budget, and any local regulations. Contact us now to speak to one of our specialists.
Working with a NICEIC-approved contractor (that we are) means receiving guaranteed professionalism, satisfaction, and high-quality service for your electrical works at home or on a commercial property. This further ensures safety and competence, compliance with building regulations, and our Solar PV installations come with a 6 year financial protection policy through the Consumer Protection Association for your peace of mind. So you can rest assured, all your electrical works will be in the safe hands of our expert electricians.
At Coutts Electrical Contractors, we guarantee fast response. You can call us 24/7, 365 days a year, and if emergency attendance is requested, an engineer will be dispatched to you within 30 minutes.
We are a fully qualified and insured team. We come with NICEIC and OZEV approval. In addition, we are qualified EV Charger Installers and are Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) Certified, we have received SafeContractor Accreditation, and even more. All required qualifications and insurance ensure high-quality, safe, and reliable electrical services for your home or commercial property.
